*Minimum age of 20 if candidate has successfully completed 2 years of law enforcement studies at an accredited college or university, otherwise, minimum age of 21; applicants must be under 35 years of age unless previously employed as a sworn and certified police officer for a municipality for any amount of time in any state, then no upper age limit; applicants with Illinois Deputy Sheriff and/or Illinois State Police patrol experience are eligible up to the age of 40.

NOTE:  Per Public Act 096-0472, effective 8/14/09, A veteran shall be allowed to exceed the maximum age provision by the number of years served on active military duty (maximum of 10).
